In Chechnya, a bomb went off in Grozny, killing a civilian. 

Georgian troops sent into the Pankisi Gorge to deal with suspected al Qaeda members and Chechen rebels, have been ordered not to arrest anyone. The Russians were not amused.

Discussions are going on between various rebel factions and the Russians about a possible peace deal. The major problem is that there are so many Chechen factions. Some of these groups are criminal gangs, others are Islamic radicals, but most are local or clan groups that just want a stop to the fighting.
