Archives

February 4, 2006: While the LTTE has agreed to peace talks, the terrorist organization is still preparing for war. The LTTE is, however, suffering from combat fatigue. The Tamil minority in Sri Lanka, which has long supported the LTTE, is getting tired of the endless violence. The LTTE is not getting as many, or as dedicated, recruits.

February 1, 2006: The LTTE dissidents, who have been fighting a civil war with mainstream LTTE forces, have offered a ceasefire while peace talks with the government are underway. The dissident faction, based on eastern Sri Lanka, have been fighting the mainstream LTTE, based in the north, for nearly two years.

January 31, 2006: The LTTE has expanded it's seagoing force of terrorists by over a hundred men in the last few weeks. The navy has been more successful at intercepting LTTE boats bringing in weapons from India, and apparently the LTTE is increasing its naval force to compensate.

January 30, 2006: The number and intensity of clashes between LTTE and the army has declined sharply since the LTTE agreed to resume peace talks. In the last two months, over a 150 people have died in the renewed violence.
